Default HP to continue webOS as Open Source

The HP's CEO, Meg Whitman, said to The Verge that HP will still continue developing the webOS but it will be released as an open source system this time. It is good to hear that a great operating system like WebOS will still continue its journey even they know that there is a tough competition in the market. But Whitman said that it will take longer before they can release this new version of their software and it might until 2013.

2013 would seems to be pretty long but do you thing that it will be the right time for them to make it and compete with mobile OS giant like iOS and Android?

Nope. They wont make it happen. Android and iOS are too big now for WebOS to bring down. I would probably agree if they will be compete with Bada OS or Symbian or other mobile operating system but not Android or iOS nor even Windows Phone.
