Does anyone know of a device that plugs into a phone outlet and transmits calls to a phone base?

To answer your immediate question: why not plug the phone base into the outlet? This is for my mother who has an apartment in an assisted living residence. The phone outlet is across the room from her. I could run a line all the way around the room, but I'm hoping that there is an accessory that allows a phone base to sit wirelessly across from the phone jack.

Any help here? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
